1. Sealing and Bonding of Filter Media

2. Structural Assembly

Critical Considerations
a. Material Compatibility
- Test adhesion between HMAs and substrates (e.g., synthetic fibers, metals, plastics) to avoid delamination.

b. Temperature Requirements
- Application Temperature: Ensure the adhesive’s melting point (typically 120–180°C) does not damage heat-sensitive media (e.g., meltblown polypropylene).
- Operational Temperature: Select HMAs with thermal stability matching the filter’s operating range.
c. Application Precision
- Use controlled dispensing systems (e.g., spray, slot coating) to apply uniform adhesive layers.
- Avoid excessive adhesive thickness, which may clog pores or reduce airflow.
d. Curing Time and Production Speed
- Optimize open time (time before adhesive solidifies) to align with assembly line speeds.
- Balance fast curing for efficiency with sufficient time for alignment adjustments.
e. Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
- Choose HMAs free from VOCs, heavy metals, or toxic byproducts.
- Certifications: Verify compliance with industry standards (e.g., FDA, REACH, UL).
f. Long-Term Durability
- Evaluate resistance to vibration, humidity, and cyclic stress (critical for automotive or industrial filters).
- Conduct aging tests to ensure performance over the filter’s lifespan.
