This is the most significant advantage of hot melt adhesive. Poor temperature resistance
This is the main drawback. As a thermoplastic material, it will soften again when exposed to heat, so the bonding area is not resistant to high temperatures. The long-term use temperature of ordinary hot melt adhesive usually does not exceed 60-80 ℃.
Limited adhesive strength
Compared with reactive structural adhesives such as epoxy resin and acrylic acid, its final bonding strength (especially peel strength and impact resistance) is relatively low, and it is generally not used for bonding main load-bearing structural components.
Difficulty in bonding certain materials
For plastics with extremely low surface energy (such as untreated PP, PE, PTFE) and smooth metal surfaces, special formulations of hot melt adhesive or surface treatment are required to achieve the desired effect.
Process is affected by equipment
Specialized heating and gluing equipment is required, with a relatively high initial investment cost. The effect of glue application is greatly affected by the precision of temperature control. If the temperature is too low, it will lead to poor fluidity, and if it is too high, it may cause colloid decomposition.
